Updates from Ecuador
Security Update
Starfish programming remains virtual out of an abundance of caution, and it will likely remain virtual through the end of the school year in February. The state of emergency remains in effect in Ecuador, and the nation’s president has declared a state of internal armed conflict. Across the nation, Ecuadorians remain vigilant. While there continues to be a heightened level of fear among our families due to the increased violence of recent years, the events of the past month have not led to further acts of violence within our community.
Academic Updates
At Starfish
Middle School
Our middle school students have been studying geometry and learning about the area and volume of both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional figures. Using the skills they learned, our students were tasked to create an animal using geometric figures in groups. Additionally, our scholars were introduced to the three states of matter (solids, liquids, and gases) through various experiments.
High School
Our high school students have been studying various concepts in physics, including Hooke’s Law, angles, magnitude, and direction. They presented videos on these topics, created the scripts, and edited the clips together.
Student Recognition
Our students continue to excel in their classrooms! They have been recognized for their growth in leadership, responsibility, public speaking, creativity, and positivity through our community projects and classes.
